BMW presented the first information about the new generation of the 4-Series coupe, which will be presented in 2020.

The new coupe will be 57 mm lower than the sedan and will receive a 21 mm lower center of gravity, which, combined with a 23 mm wider rear track and a new front suspension setup, as well as additional front-end reinforcement, will improve the handling of the model. For the first time in the history of the BMW 4-Series, the M440i xDrive version will appear — the novelty will receive a 374-horsepower in-line 6-cylinder gasoline engine and a 48-volt hybrid superstructure with a starter-generator that can provide an additional 11 hp. during acceleration. The gasoline-electric unit will be combined with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Also, the BMW M440i xDrive Coupe will be equipped with an electronically controlled rear differential lock, reinforced brakes, and a retuned suspension.

The car, which is built on the platform of the latest generation BMW 3-Series sedan, is being tested at a test center in French Miramas, at a training ground in the Swedish city of Arjeplug, on the German Nordschleife track (the northern loop of the Nurburgring race track) and on public roads near Munich in Germany. The date of the premiere of the coupe has not yet been announced. ©
